In cold Russia of the late-nineteenth-century, the signs of a new era are coming up. A group of young revolutionaries would like to force the upheaval by all means. In the social confusion, personal interests, affairs and the love of the participants also play their part. Increasingly, the development escalates until finally cold-blooded murders are performed. --- "Demons" (often also translated as "Evil Spirits", "The Devils" or "The Possessed") is a novel of the famous Russian writer Fyodor Mikhaylovich Dostoyevsky (1821-1881) and was first published in 1873. The story of the book plays during the period of pre-revolutionary Russia (late 19th century). Tsarist domination and traditional values ¿¿have increasingly been shaken. The various ideologies, such as conservatism, liberalism, nihilism and socialism, are represented in Dostoevsky¿s novel through the different protagonists. This edition follows the translation to English by Constance Garnett (1861-1946) in 1913. The eBook corresponds to about 840 book pages.
